Mathematical Modeling and Complex Systems Lab

The Laboratory for Mathematical Modeling and Complex Systems (MMCSL) is part of the Department of Computer Science and Technology of the University of Peloponnese. MMCSL is mainly devoted to the design and development of mathematical methods and assets for modeling physical systems and behaviours.

MMCSL history

MMCSL was constituted and introduced at the beginning of 2009 from Dimitrios S. Vlachos, an assistant Professor at the University of Peloponnese. The main goal was to promote the scientific research in the field of Mathematical Modeling and Simulation of Physical Systems and to cover educational needs of the Department of Computer Science and Technology of the University of Peloponnese.

MMCSL gradually took shape during the first years with the support and collaboration of other researchers and academicians from Research Institutes and Universities from Greece. Nowadays, MMCSL has consolidated at the University of Peloponnese and has also the recognition of many researchers within and outside our borders.

The main research actions of MMCSL focus on:

  • Discrete Lagrangian Integrators which is a technique for discretizing systems that are described by a Lagrangian equation
  • Evolutionary algorithms
  • Systems that can be modeled using agents and networks of interactions
  • Dynamics of complex networks
